Pinterest is fantastic for gaining inspiration for all sorts of things. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is swiftly approaching and I thought it would be a great idea to bring together all of the best Jubilee ideas I’ve come across there and put them in one place. So whether it’s ideas for typically-British afternoon tea, cupcake designs or some inventive ways of including regally-styled cakes into your Jubilee celebrations, look no further! Oh and Tea and Cake is on Pinterest too, please do follow
Firstly, here are some cakes that are very nice to look at:
The recipe for this wonderful sponge is at BBC Good Food.
This pretty cake, depicting a street party scene, was an entry in The Times’ Diamond Jubilee baking competition.
Probably the first of many Jubilee cupcakes you will see over the next few days or so – featured in the Daily Mail’s street party food special.
These beautiful treats are from The Little Baking Company, based in Tonbridge, Kent.
I’m not sure exactly who made these or where they were pinned from, but just how pretty are they?!
Pop Bakery made these very regal cake pops, perfect for a mess-free Jubilee picnic in the park.
Here are some ideas for a jubilant (get it?!) afternoon tea:
Create a table spread awash with red, white and blue this bank holiday weekend with streamers, tablecloths and crockery. The products in this pin are from Emma Bridgewater.
This lovely plate of mini cakes is served at The Petersham Hotel in Richmond-upon-Thames. Read a review in the Hounslow Chronicle here. I really like the idea of using the little Union Jacks.
Not your typical afternoon tea, and not easily creatable at home, but I had to include this pin. You can marvel at – then eat – these at The Berkeley, London until June 9th.
Now it’s not often we get to celebrate 60 years of a reigning Monarch, so why not dig out your finest china and raise a cuppa to her Majesty?
A bit of bunting and a plaid tablecloth will set off your afternoon tea food and drink (tea?) perfectly. These are from Jan Constantine.
An idea for the tea you could be drinking over the weekend; Twining’s limited edition Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Tea. I’ve got the pink caddy and it is honestly the perfect tea to be drinking this over the bank holiday.
These tea bags are all over Pinterest and are the best novelty tea bags I’ve come across and just fitting for the upcoming celebrations. The set from Boing Boing includes the five English characters shown above (the second one from the top is Jack the Ripper – the only one I didn’t get!)
Whatever you’re doing to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee, enjoy it! Eat lots of cake and drink lots of tea.
