A visit to Greenwich and the Cutty Sark tea clipper

The magnificent Cutty Sark

The Cutty Sark

On a recent Sunday trip to Greenwich, it wasn’t until venturing through the bustling market and going on board the Cutty Sark that I realised what an ideal place Greenwich is for tea lovers in search of a bit of history about the lovely stuff.

Global tea etiquette

Tumblr is just brilliant for cool, quirky infographic-type things, and when I come across tea-related snippets I love it and can’t wait to share them on here.

This one’s perfect as my dream is to visit other countries around the world who are seemingly as addicted to tea as the UK is, to experience their culture and – of course – drink their tea!

Healthy(ish) honey, apple and banana flapjacks

Flapjacks

Kinda healthy flapjacks

Running a blog devoted to all things cake is a bit difficult when you’re on a diet, so I’ve constantly been trying to think of cake recipes that aren’t too unhealthy. Except the words ‘cake’ and ‘healthy’ don’t ever really go together, so flapjacks is what I came up with.

These are (relatively) healthy and nutritious, with lots of fruit and not too much bad stuff. The banana makes sure they aren’t too dry and mine were fairly gooey, so if you want to make them crunchier cook them for a little bit longer.

Also, I recently made a Facebook page for Tea and Cake so please ‘like’ it! :-)

Most wanted: Fortnum & Mason high tea cups and strainer

Fortnum & Mason high tea cups and strainer

Fortnum & Mason of Piccadilly, London, is one of the most well-known department stores in the world. Often overlooked by its Knightsbridge neighbour Harrods, it sells some lovely bone china. This pair of gold-leaf high tea cups with a strainer is quite pricey, but perfect for those feeling indulgent or for a wedding gift.

The info

£110 for the pair

Available on Fortnum & Mason’s website.

By the way, I have launched a Facebook page for Tea and Cake and I’m trying to build a good following on there, so please like the page. I try to post interesting cake pics on there – and let’s face it, who doesn’t like looking at cake?! Also, you can follow Tea and Cake on Twitter if that’s your social media of choice :-)
